Inspiration
The problem: Social distancing cannot be easily enforced in the US, Canada and other countries without extensive policing.Currently social distancing is being enforced through social shaming and reinforcement through mainstream media.
WHO has released data and analysis that we need mitigation and suppression to really get past this. While social distancing is an important preventive step, it also needs to be coupled with identifying and isolating all infected people. The virus is extremely transmissible and since many people may be asymptomatic, the need for mapping contact networks is important to identify all points of contact that need to be isolated to enable suppression.
What it does
Hermit heroes gamifies social distancing!
- You build your contact network everyday and receive a social distancing score
- Get points for limited contact, get additional points for doing healthy actiivites like solo runs or hikes
- Goal is to achieve the hermit level and get rewards for every level you reach such as:
- Positive messages from the front line
- Coupons to local business
- Post level ups on social network
- Analysis of lives saved every week/month
- Contact network is self reported or derived via google maps integration
- Complete social distancing challenges: Binge watch series, solo hikes etc
- User entered data is private - Only deidentified location network data is used
- If any user tests positive they can send anonymous notifications to their contact networks if they are on the app.
- Post to public forums like nextdoor or alert city officials to reach out to potential contacts who are not on the app
